Evening Musings……

Following Jesus is not an easy road. It is actually the hardest road to travel. Why do I make such a statement? because as Christians we walk against a tide of people going in the opposite direction. Is tough my friend, is not easy.

We live in the world but we are not of the world, friendship with the world makes us enemies of God. We are commanded to love our enemies, but if we are really honest sometimes we just want to throw stones at people(not literally of course…) If we walk in the truth of God we are going to find much resistance.

Have you ever been tempted to let it all go? tempted with the suggestion to give it all up? to relax and go with the crowd?, I have! when I foolishly succumbed to this wicked notion for the smallest fraction of time I experience a false sense of blissful release. Straight from the pit of hell of course! But quickly I return to my senses and repent of having entertained such an evil thought.

It is a lonely road friend. In my daily interactions I find it to be road less travelled. The road less wanted. The road most rejected. The road less popular.

BUT , it is the only road worth travelling.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

John 8:12

And so…..this evening the reality of my Christian walk hit me really hard. It happenend when I began browsing through my photo albums. Photo after photo displaying the happy faces of my beloved family. Husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, step dad and extended family. Memories flooding in of our times spent together, fun times! delighting in their smiles, seeing the joy in their happy faces. Hundreds of photos showing their love and affection and their trust in me. Immeadiately a sadness mingled with pain took hold of my soul as the reality hit me, “they are walking in darknes”, with the exception of my oldest grandson, the rest of my family are blind to the the truth of the only One Who can save them from God’s wrath and judgement. JESUS CHRIST. Their apathy or lack of interest in hearing the truth grieves me deeply. Even more so tonight as I look at their photos.

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”

Psalm 43:5

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” –

Hebrews 11:11

These words echo in my heart . HOPE that one day my family will receive Jesus as their Saviour. We, as God’s children, have hope in every situation no matter how impossible it looks. HOPE that God will intervene one day and turn things around. Hope walks with us on the hard road we travelled. Our faith gives us hope to keep going. We know in Whom we have believed.

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.””
‭‭

Matthew‬ ‭19:25-26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God’s Word gives us Hope.

As we allow His Word to live in us we know we do not walk alone as we follow our Saviour. The Holy Spirit is with us revealing Jesus, giving us hope as we call out to our “Abba Father”.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 15:13 ESV

Blessings of hope until we see Him face to face.

I am praying with you, for many of my family walk in darkness also. “Father, Thru our Christ Jesus, bring Salvation and Light to our families and friends. Amen.” All power is in His Name.

  2. Been a Christian is easily a target for the world that lives outside Jesus. The Lord did promise us Trials and as I go through my own I remember that He is testing my Faith and help me grow nearer Him. Thank you for the beautiful post.

  3. Hope

Yes, it IS hard. We are outcasts, isolated, rejected, and hated. It’s no wonder that we want to quit at times. But a little while from now we’ll be so, so glad that we hung in there! Can you imagine living in a city with streets of gold where everyone is holy? Everyone is clean? Everyone LIKES us??? My goodness… I can’t either.

    1. What a day that will be! The thought fills my eyes with tears of Joy. Hard to imagine, I agree, only our faith can see it right now….
But that Day is fast approaching. ♥️♥️
